Can someone please make this template more updated by making a parameter for putting the ID of the species on GBIF so instead of it searching for it by species name it will take you directly to the species page, but the default is it doing the search if there is no GBIF id number provided. That way it would be more user friendly, as well can someone plesae change it so it doesn't just show up as GBIF link, but maybe change the title of the Link to match the Species name as provided by the Articles Page, for example make it look like this: Dypsis mcdonaldiana on the Global Biodiversity Information Facility Database. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 17:56, 30 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

@Koavf: Yes, if possible would be great. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 17:00, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Clarkcj12: Okay but it will require updating instances of the template too. That's not a bad thing but it's just a decent amount of work. I'll have to get a bot or tool to help. Thanks. —Justin (koavf)TCM 17:21, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Koavf and Clarkcj12: I have changed the template, so that now it works with ID and alternatively still works without in the same way as before. However, many ID numbers already have been added until now by some users in a lot of taxon pages. These instances will not work properly, as since then GBIF seems to have changes most ID numbers. No easy way to fix this problem. --Franz Xaver (talk) 21:10, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
