Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and a belated welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you are enjoying being here. Here are some pages you might not yet have found:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at the Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome!

A hint about the gbr template[edit]

Hi. When creating Taxonavigation templates for the genus rank, it's is convenient (however not at all mandatory) to use the {{Gbr}} template instead of common wiki code. The template adds italics to the genus name, wiki links it, and adds a forced line break at the end. So there is no need to add any link brackets, apostrophes for italics, or any <br /> codes. It's all done automatically and therefore minimizes the risk of forgetting to add any of those elements. Please note that since it always automatically adds italics it is only intended for use on genus level templates, not for family- or higher taxa templates. (In theory I guess it could also be used for species, but by praxis we only create Taxonavigation templates for the species rank if that specific taxon also have daughter taxa, i.e. subspecies.)

For an example of how it is used you can check this diff. where I've added it to the Helicodonta taxonavigation template you created (and forgot the italics while doing so :-) Happy editing! Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 10:31, 24 July 2017 (UTC).Reply
