some comment[edit]

@Circeus: a couple I have been involved with:

  • CSIRO (Cat) (is CSIRO a useful instit. to assemble collections under?)
    • ANIC (Cat) The one I am used to for CSIRO is ANWC which is Australian National Wildlife Collection, of course this does not account for the fact that their botanical and invertebrate collections are stored separately. They are a large and spread out government institution near ANU in Canberra. These different collections are separately housed. You could categorize them all under CSIRO though.
  • MZUSP (Cat) <-- this is the preferred acronym, this is where I currently work.
    • MZSP (Cat) <-- I would recommend merging this one with the above
    • DZSJRP (Cat) (same?) No this is a collection, not museum, in a department at the the University. MZ is owned by the Univerity of Sao Paulo hence it is in its acronym, however the University has its own departments too. The MZ is located within the University which is at Butanta, Sao Paulo as against the museum which is at Ipiranga, Sao Paulo.

Thanks. Is that to say we could reasonably consider separate acronyms for the university (UNESP, it looks like) and the museum? I suspect separate acronyms for the campuses may be more useful if it comes down to it. At first blush IBILCE seems to have most of the collections for UNESP anyway. Urgh. I'm noticing a lot of sources completely fail to tell apart USP and UNESP... Circeus (talk) 07:38, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

MZB and ZMBJ are the same both referring to the Bogor Museum (Buitenzorg). When I have used specimens from their I have been asked to use the acronym BZM, for example "The only comparative material was a single juvenile specimen of El. novaeguineae (Bogor Zoological Museum BZM 18) collected in ..." is a quote from my 2015 paper on the Elseya novaeguineae complex. Thanks @Faendalimas:! I've added BZM to the lit of fixes to be done. Circeus (talk) 12:39, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

NHM Wien[edit]

I would prefer to have merged this as NHMW. Also in the English version of their start page ([1]), they use their official German language name Naturhistorisches Museum Wien. The Index Herbariorum code is W. --Franz Xaver (talk) 13:27, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

THanks for pointing that out. I actually intended for NHMW to be the main one. Fixed now. Circeus (talk) 13:31, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
